Sterftecijfers coronavirus vergeleken

March 17, 2020 - The World Health Organisation has estimated that the coronavirus kills about 3.4 percent of the people it infects, but that death rate varies widely between countries with large outbreaks of the disease.

The death rate is a calculation of the number of known deaths out of the total number of confirmed cases. But because the disease progresses over a period of weeks and the case numbers are constantly changing, the rate is not static and likely to continue evolving, according to Business Insider website.

The death rate also varies across age groups, with older people and those who have preexisting conditions seemingly much more likely to die from COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
