British Academy Film Awards 2019

February 3, 2020 - World War One film 1917 was the big winner at the Bafta Film Awards, winning seven prizes in total. The trophies for Sir Sam Mendes's movie included best film, best British film, best director and best cinematography.

Joker star Joaquin Phoenix was named best actor, while Renee Zellweger was recognised for her portrayal of Judy Garland.

Mendes is the first British winner of best director at the Baftas since Danny Boyle won for Slumdog Millionaire in 2009.

Bafta winners and nominees in most categories are voted for by 6,700 academy members, who are industry professionals and creatives around the world.
