Flamengo en River Plate strijden in finale van de Copa Libertadores

By Mike Tyler

November 23, 2019 - The final of the 2019 Copa Libertadores, South America’s premier club competition, will be played in Peru between Brazil’s Flamengo and Argentina’s River Plate.

The match, initially scheduled to take place in Santiago, has been switched to Lima’s 80,000 capacity Estadio Monumental due to a wave of demonstrations in the Chilean capital.

Previously played over two legs, this will be the first single match final in the history of the tournament. Argentina (25) and Brazil (18) have won 43 of 58 Copa Libertadores titles between them.

River Plate have won the Copa Libertadores four times, and are the defending champions.

Flamengo, who currently top the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, are aiming to win their first Copa title since 1981.
