Events include:

Jun 5, U.S.: Fifty years ago presidential candidate Robert F. Jun 8-9, Canada: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hosts G7 leaders at Charlevoix, Quebec. America’s unilateral decision to pull out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal brokered by Barack Obama, and reinstate sanctions against the Islamic Republic, is likely to be high on the agenda

Jun 12, Singapore: U.S. president Donald Trump and the leader of the world’s most secretive state, North Korea’s Kim Jong-un, will make history if their much-vaunted summit goes ahead. Both men have said they could withdraw before talks on eliminating North Korea’s nuclear capability even begin

Jun 14-Jul 15, Russia: The FIFA World Cup sees 31 national teams eager to deny reigning champions Germany a fifth trophy, which would take Germany level with Brazil as the World Cup’s most successful national teams

Jun 26, Poland: A dispute with the European Union over judicial reform gives the former Communist-led country until today to reassure the bloc it is not flouting the rule of law. Sanctions could follow if the EU is unconvinced

Jun 24, Turkey: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expects to win a third term in snap elections after 2017’s referendum gave him greater powers, moving Turkey ever further from its status as a parliamentary democracy

Jun 24, Saudi Arabia: Women in the conservative nation will be allowed to drive a car following a royal decree issued in 2017. Saudi Arabia was the only country in the world to forbid women from driving
