The links-style course huisvest de grote major voor de vijfde keer, en wordt als par 70 gespeeld op 6.807 meter – een uitbreiding van bijna a stretch of almost 411 meter sinds de Open van 2004 – dankzij tien nieuwe back tees.

The most significant adjustments come at the downhill par-4 14th (now 519 yards) and the winding par-5 16th (now 616 yards). Seven acres of fairway have also been converted to rough as part of a project begun in 2012 to restore the course to its 1931 design.
