January 27, 2015 - Auschwitz-Birkenau is the most infamous of all Nazi camps, and its victims will be commemorated on January 27 -- Holocaust Memorial Day -- the date of its liberation by Soviet troops in 1945. Over 1.1 million people were murdered at this site, over 90% of the victims being Jewish.
