July 7, 2014 - Former President of Georgia and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev’s Foreign Minister Eduard Shevardnadze has died at the age of 86 in Tbilisi. As the last foreign minister of the Soviet Union, Eduard Shevardnadze was one of the major figures who prepared and set in motion the collapse of the Soviet Union.
