200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in all British colonies and in the United States. The abolition in 1807 marked the beginning of the end for the transatlantic trade in human beings which, for over 400 years, had witnessed at least 11 million people transported from Africa into slavery in appallingly inhumane conditions. Graphic shows number of slaves delivered by region, main source and delivery areas, trade routes, and how the triangular trade worked between Europe, Africa and the Americas.
