Trump’s policies meet with underwhelming poll results

By Ninian Carter

February 24, 2025 - U.S. citizens have responded poorly to some of President Trump’s new policies, such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll of over 4,000 adults.

Americans have responded to some of President Trump’s policy decisions with poor to middling marks in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The survey of 4,145 U.S. adults, conducted February 13-18, shows that Trump is working on policies that many Americans don’t like, or don’t consider very important.

For example, only 25% of Americans support a proposed U.S. takeover of Gaza that would involve resettling Palestinians, and only 30% agree with renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

The share of Americans who disapprove of Trump’s presidency has leapt up by 10%, to 51%, since he took office last month.
