“Exercise Pitch Black” will be biggest in 43 years

July 12, 2024 - August 2, 2024 - This year’s Exercise Pitch Black, a biennial warfare exercise hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force, will be the largest in its 43-year history, with 19 other nations and more than 140 aircraft.

Exercise Pitch Black is a biennial war games operation hosted by the Royal Australian Air Force.

This year’s iteration – running from July 12 to August 2, 2024 – will be the biggest in its 43-year history, with 20 participating nations and more than 140 aircraft flying in the exercise.

Included for first-time participation will be aircraft from Italy, Papua New Guinea, Philippines and Spain, with embedded personnel from Brunei and Fiji also making their first appearance.
