Ukraine receives first Mirage 2000 fighter jets from France
February 7, 2025 - Ukraine welcomes the first Mirage 2000 fighter jets promised by France, giving the country its second type of Western aircraft in addition to the F-16 jets handed over by other allies last year.
Kyiv said on Thursday it had received a first batch of French Mirage 2000 fighter jets as well as U.S.-made F-16 fighters from the Netherlands as European allies seek to strengthen Kyiv’s hand in its war with Russia.
The first batch of three Mirage 2000-5, out of a total of six promised, reportedly arrived with Ukrainian pilots on board, after several months of training in France.
The Mirage 2000-5 is an air-superiority version, and the jets for Ukraine were being upgraded with new equipment for air-to-ground combat and defence against electronic warfare.
According to La Tribune, the aircraft delivered to Ukraine will be armed with MICA air-to-air missiles, SCALP-EG air-launched cruise missiles, AASM Hammer guided bombs and two 30 mm DEFA 554 cannons.
