UK ELECTION 2024

UK Wahl: Wie Britannien gewählt hat (4)

By Duncan Mil

July 5, 2024 - Nach Auszählung aller Stimmen (11.00 Uhr GMT - 13.00 Uhr MESZ) erhält Labour 412 Sitze im Unterhaus, die Konservativen fallen auf 121 Sitze. Sir Keir Starmer wird der neue Premierminister von UK.

Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party has achieved substantial gains in the so-called “red wall,” -- working-class, deindustrialised areas of the north of England.

Labour and the Liberal Democrats have gained seats in London’s commuter towns, the 100 constituencies surrounding the capital.

Former PM Liz Truss has lost her seat, joining other big-name casualties Penny Mordaunt, Grant Shapps, and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has congratulated his rival and will formally tender his resignation to the King in the coming hours.
