Apr 12, Gabon: Military leader Brice Oligui Nguema stands in a presidential election meant to transfer power to civilians. Critics argue that the new constitution and electoral code favour his bid after he seized power in a 2023 coup.

Apr 13, Ecuador: Hard-right incumbent President Daniel Noboa and left-wing challenger Luisa González to runoff in a presidential election seen as an assessment of Noboa’s iron fist approach to tackling gang violence.
