The ICC Detention Centre, located within the Dutch prison complex in Scheveningen, near The Hague, holds individuals awaiting trial before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
At the detention centre, Duterte has his own private cell and access to a library, gym, medical care, and a kitchen, where he can prepare his own meals.
Among his privileges are conjugal visits, outdoor exercise space, unmonitored communication with his legal team, and visits from a minister or spiritual advisor.
During his years in office, Duterte oversaw a crackdown on accused drug dealers and drug addicts, resulting in the deaths of thousands of civilians, often at the hands of police and vigilantes.
Duterte, the first former leader of an Asian country to be served an arrest warrant by the ICC, is expected to make his initial court appearance in the coming days.
