Los matrimonios en China cayeron un récord de 20% el año pasado

February 11, 2025 - El número de matrimonios en China se desplomó a 6,1 millones en 2024, una caída sin precedentes de 20,5% frente al año previo – agravando la situación del país con un declive de la población.

Marriages in China fell by more than 20% last year, the biggest drop on record, despite efforts by authorities to encourage young couples to wed and have children to boost the country’s waning population.

Only 6.10 million couples registered for marriage in 2024, down from 7.68 million in 2023, figures from the Ministry of Civil Affairs showed.

China has the second-biggest population in the world at 1.41 billion (India has 1.43 billion) – but one that is ageing rapidly.
