"Eje de la Resistencia" de Irán
August 13, 2024 - Irán ha amenazado con responder al asesinato, presuntamente perpetrado por Israel, del líder de Hamas Ismail Haniyeh en Teherán, usando las milicias regionales que la República Islámica ha armado.
European leaders called on Iran and its allies to refrain from attacks against Israel following the killing of Haniyeh. Iran’s foreign ministry responded on Tuesday (August 13), describing calls from London, Paris, and Berlin as a “lack of political logic and contradicting principles of international law.”
“Without any objection to the crimes of the Zionist regime (Israel), the E3 statement impudently requires Iran not to respond to a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Nasser Kanaani, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson, said.
Kanaani called on Britain, France and Germany to “once and for all stand up against the war in Gaza and the warmongering of Israel.”
“The inaction of the United Nations Security Council and the extensive political and military support of Western governments are the main factors behind the regional expansion of the Gaza crisis,” Kanaani said.
The Institute for the Study of War defines the“Axis of Resistance” as an unconventional alliance Iran has cultivated in the Middle East since the Islamic Republic came to power in 1979.
The strategic objectives of these proxies -- Hamas, Hezbollah, Houthis and Popular Mobilisation Forces -- include eroding and eventually expelling American influence from the Middle East and destroying the Israeli state.
