Vícitmas de la guerra en Gaza

By Duncan Mil

December 11, 2023 - Cerca de 18.000 palestinos, incluidos 133 trabajadores de salud, han muerto y más de 49.000 personas han sido lesionadas desde que estalló la guerra el 7 de octubre según el Ministerio de Salud de Gaza.

The United Nations General Assembly will likely vote Tuesday on a draft resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip, diplomats told Reuters on Sunday.

The move comes after the U.S. vetoed on Friday a UN Security Council demand for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected international calls to end the Gaza war on Sunday, thanking U.S. President Joe Biden for his nation’s veto.

“I greatly appreciate the correct stance that the U.S. has taken in the UN Security Council,” the Israeli prime minister said.

Netanyahu also spoke by telephone over the weekend with the leaders of France and Germany, Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz, respectively.

“You cannot on the one hand support the elimination of Hamas and on other pressure us to end the war, which would prevent the elimination of Hamas,” Netanyahu told them.

However, there are deepening political divisions in the U.S. over Netanyahu’s seeming indifference to the mounting civilian death toll in Gaza.

“Too many innocent Palestinians have been killed,” and that is driving civilians into the “arms of the enemy,” Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters in Dubai following the collapse of a recent ceasefire,

“Frankly, the scale of civilian suffering, and the images and videos coming from Gaza, are devastating,” Harris said.
