September 13, 2023 - La temporada de verano produjo sorprendentes ganancias para Barbie y Oppenheimer pero pobres resultados para Mission: Impossible 7 e Indiana Jones V.

The summer movie season is over, with surprising wins for Barbie and Oppenheimer and underwhelming performances from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

The poor performances of Mission: Impossible 7 and Indy 5 are likely linked to the phenomenal impact of the “Barbenheimer” effect ,which saw the top two movies grossing a combined $2.3 billion.

Paramount and Disney’s pain will be further exacerbated by their movies’ ballooning budgets during the Covid pandemic, thought to be around $300m each, with additional marketing budgets likely in the area of $100 million a piece.
