Acusaciones criminales contra Trump

By Duncan Mil

August 17, 2023 - El fiscal del caso de asociación delictiva contra Donald Trump en Georgia
ha propuesta el inicio del juicio para el 4 de marzo del año próximo, un día antes de que Trump compita en las primarias del Supermartes.

Fani T. Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, said on Wednesday that she had filed a motion for the criminal racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and his 18 co-defendants to go to trial on March 4, 2024.

If the proposed trial date is accepted, Trump will begin his trial when the Republican presidential nominating contests reach a critical stage. On Super Tuesday -- which takes place on March 5, 2024 -- voters in more than a dozen states, including California and Texas, will select their presidential candidate.

In a 41-count indictment unsealed Monday, Willis, a Democrat, brought 13 counts against Trump, including forgery and racketeering, which is most often used to target members of Mafia crime groups.

Georgia’s RICO law (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) is at the heart of the case. Willis brought racketeering counts against all 19 defendants, alleging they broke that state law and others as they attempted to reverse the election results.

Several states will already have held their nominating contests, including Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina.

“It’s a fairy tale to think that’s going to happen,” Michael J. Moore, a former U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Georgia, told CNN, commenting on the timescale.
