Cuatro cargos penales contra Trump

August 15, 2023 - Un gran jurado de Atlanta ha acusado a Donald Trump de confabular para anular su derrota en la elección 2020 en Georgia. Esta cuarta acusación eleva a 91 el número de cargos criminales que él enfrenta.

The indictment charges Trump with 13 criminal counts, including racketeering and conspiracy. The 41-count indictment also charges 18 co-defendants, including his lawyer Rudy Giuliani, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and a top former Justice Department official, Jeffrey Clark.

The indictment also names lawyers John Eastman, Sidney Powell, Kenneth Chesebro, Jenna Elli, Ray Smith, and others for violating Georgia’s RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization) act.

The racketeering charge carries a sentence of five to 20 years, while a conspiracy conviction can result in a minimum sentence of one year.

“Trump and the other defendants charged in this indictment refused to accept that Trump lost, and they knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favour of Trump,” the indictment says.

Trump has denied all wrongdoing, as Giuliani did before the indictment was made public.
