Musk podría retirar vetos a extuiteros tóxicos prominentes
October 28, 2022 - El defensor de la libre expresión Elon Musk ha completado su polémica compra de Twitter, lo que aumenta la posibilidad de que retire los vetos de algunos de los tuiteros más ofensivos de la plataforma.
Elon Musk has finally taken control of Twitter, after a protracted, legally messy flip-flopping seven-month debacle.
When Musk originally agreed to buy Twitter in April, before trying to back out of the deal, he said, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
Musk is unashamedly critical of Twitter’s rules aimed at curbing harassment, extremism and misinformation, arguing that the platform’s efforts to promote “healthy conversations” are too restrictive.
This could lead to a lifting of bans on former President Donald Trump (blocked after allegedly inciting violence that led to the U.S. Capitol insurrection), conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, Marjorie Taylor Greene (who tweeted misleading and false claims about Covid-19 vaccines) and 2020 election deniers like Mike Lindell.
Experts, who study social networks, fear that allowing Twitter to show all legal speech would see a deluge of toxicity, from misogynist, racist and transphobic abuse to false claims about voting security and the effectiveness of vaccines.
