33 millones enfrentan hambre en Brasil
June 9, 2022 -
Un sondeo nacional ha hallado que el número de personas que viven
con hambre en Brasil se disparó 73% en menos de dos años, de 19,1 millones a 33,1 millones, un “retroceso histórico” para una nación que había logrado enormes avances contra la pobreza.
Around 33.1 million people in Latin America’s largest economy are living in hunger, up from 19.1 million in 2020, said the report from the Brazilian Network for Research on Food Security.
Around 125 million people – more than half (58.7%) of Brazil’s population of 213 million – suffer from mild, moderate or severe hunger.
According to the report, the main factors responsible for the growth in the number of Brazilians suffering from food insecurity are “the continued dismantling of public policies, the worsening of the economic crisis, the increase in social inequalities and the second year of the Covid-19 pandemic”.
