May 3, 2022 - Según el diario The Kyiv Post, las fuerzas ucranianas mataron al mayor general Alexei Simonov cerca de Izium en la región de Járkov. El ataque en un puesto de comando de campo del 2º Ejército ruso, el sábado (30 de abril, 2022), alcanzó más de 30 vehíuclos blindados rusos, incluyendo tanques.

According to the paper, Simonov, a senior commander of electronic warfare, was among 100 Russian soldiers killed in the attack, Presidential military adviser Oleksiy Arestovych said.

Simonov’s death brings to at least seven generals, 36 colonels and more than 300 Russian officers who have died in the Ukraine conflict.

Britain’s Ministry of Defence on Saturday said Putin’s troops in the east are still struggling to make ground despite the renewed support, citing poor tactics and the deployment of low-skilled forces as reasons for the slow progress.

“Shortcomings in Russian tactical coordination remain. A lack of unit-level skills and inconsistent air support have left Russia unable to fully leverage its combat mass, despite localised improvements,” the MoD tweeted.

NATO estimates that Russia has lost up to 15,000 troops during the war, while Russia has put its official death toll at 1,351.
