August 4, 2021 - Las solicitudes de estudiantes de la UE a universidades del RU han caído 43% desde el Brexit, mientras que las de China se han duplicado con creces desde 2017.
The United Kingdom’s controversial exit from the European Union, known as Brexit, has a new casualty – EU students.
According to Britain’s university admissions service UCAS, 2021 applications from EU students have dropped by 43% to 28,490 since the UK’s protracted departure from the EU was completed on December 31, 2020. This compares to a rise in applications from China, to 28,490, putting them just ahead of EU applicants.
Previously, around 50,000 EU students applied to study further eduction in UK universities every year. But since Brexit, EU students now pay higher international fees at most British universities.
However, Northern Ireland, which still charges local rates to EU students, has seen its applications soar by 35%.
