Restricciones de viajes procedentes de Gran Bretaña
December 21, 2020 - Países en todo el mundo han impuesto restricciones a viajes procedentes del Reino Unido por temores de una nueva cepa extremadamente virulenta de coronavirus.
Britain’s port of Dover closed its ferry terminal for outbound traffic until further notice after the discovery of a new variant of the coronavirus prompted a wave of countries to ban travel from the UK.
More than 80% of the drivers of the 2.1 million trucks that go through Dover every year are foreign nationals, the vast bulk of them from the European Union.
France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Belgium, Israel and Canada were among those that shut off travel ties after Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned of a highly infectious new strain of the virus.
Johnson said the fast-moving new variant of the virus is 70% more transmissible than existing strains, though he said there was no evidence that it was more lethal or caused a more severe illness.
