April 7, 1920: Indian musician Ravi Shankar, credited with introducing the sitar to Western audiences, was born. Among his many students was Beatle George Harrison

April 8, 1820: The Venus de Milo, a marble statue slightly larger than life and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture, was discovered on the island of Milos

April 11, 2019: President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan was deposed in a coup after nearly 30 years in office, following months of mass protests against his government
