Maratón de Nueva York 2019

By Chris Dinsdale

November 3, 2019 - Se realiza el 49º Maratón de la Ciudad de Nueva York, último de los seis Grandes Maratones Mundiales anuales. La carrera inicia en Staten Island y termina en Central Park.

The elite field for the New York Marathon promises to be highly competitive, with 11 former champions set to feature on the start line in Staten Island. These include both defending champions, Ethiopia’s Lelisa Desisa and Kenya’s Mary Keitany, aiming to win her fifth title in New York.

Desisa, two-time Boston Marathon champion, secured his first New York title in 2018 after three podium finishes in Central Park. His bid for a second successive title will be challenged by 2017 champion Geoffrey Kamworor, who finished third last year.

In the women’s race, Keitany will look to defend her title against Boston Marathon champion Worknesh Degefa and Tokyo Marathon winner Ruti Aga. In 2018 Keitany completed the course in 2:22:48, the second fastest women’s time in the event’s history, just 17 seconds behind the record of Margaret Okayo.
