Siete décadas de China

By Duncan Mil

October 1, 2019 - El presidente chino Xi presidirá el 1 de octubre un desfile militar masivo a través del centro de Beijing para marcar el 70º aniversario de la fundación de la República Popular de China.

Since Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People’s Republic in October 1949, China has emerged as the world’s second-largest economy.

Xi has made national renewal a central theme of his administration, wanting the country to become a respected member of the international community.

However, critics, including many Western politicians, say Xi’s campaign has come at the expense of a crackdown on civil rights. China’s government is holding up to one million ethnic Muslim Uighurs in re-education camps in the far western region of Xinjiang.

In 2015, China became the top nation in terms of manufacturing output, generating $2,010 billion, according to a global manufacturing scorecard by The Brookings Institution.
