Novak Djokovic, que tuvo garantizado el cierre de la temporada como No. 1 Mundial tras la salida de Rafael Nadal por una lesión, enfrentará dura competencia para asegurar un sexto título de las Finales ATP de Roger Federer, el ganador del Abierto de Australia, quien busca reclamar una primera corona Finales ATP desde 2011.

The season-ending ATP World Tour Finals in London is played between the top eight players with the most ranking points collected during the calendar year. Points that contribute to the Race to London ranking are accumulated in the Grand Slam, ATP World Tour (ATP World Tour Masters 1000, ATP World Tour 500 series, and ATP World Tour 250 series), and Davis Cup tournaments.

Ranking points are awarded for each event - ranging from 2,000 for the winner of a Grand Slam tournament to 250 for the winner of a 250 series event.

Eight players are divided into two groups of four and play three round-robin matches each against the other players in their group.
