August 6, 1538: Bogota, capital of Colombia, was founded by Spanish explorer Gonzalo Jimenez de Quesada. Its indigenous name was Bacata, meaning The Lady of the Andes

August 7, 2015: Uggie, the terrier famous for his role in the Oscar-winning film The Artist, and the first dog to have his paw prints immortalised in cement in Hollywood, died at age 13
