Russian state nuclear company Rosatom said the floating plant docked in Murmansk on May 19 after being towed from St Petersburg, the city where it was built.
The nuclear reactors will be fuelled in Murmansk before the giant barge is moved to the town of Pevek in the Far Eastern region of Chukotka, where it is due to begin operations in 2019.
The plant will replace a coal-fired power station and an ageing nuclear plant supplying over 50,000 people with electricity, Rosatom said.
The project has been widely criticised by environmentalists. Greenpeace has dubbed it a “floating Chernobyl.”
