November 26, 2013 - In September next year Scotland goes to the polls to decide whether or not to end a 307-year union with England and become independent. The ruling Scottish National party has announced a proposed independence day March 24, 2016. The proposed date is part of a government white paper published Tuesday to make the “economic, social and democratic case for independence”.
