March 12, 2025 - President Donald Trump’s 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, which apply worldwide, have come into effect, hitting economic rivals as well as close U.S. allies.

President Donald Trump’s 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, which apply worldwide, have come into effect, hitting economic rivals as well as close U.S. allies.

The countries most affected by the tariffs are Canada, the biggest exporter of steel and aluminium to the U.S., Brazil, Mexico and South Korea – all of which until now have enjoyed some level of exemptions or quotas.
