Sydney joins World Marathon Majors

March 2, 2025 - Tokyo hosts the first of an expanded seven elite World Marathon Majors -- welcoming over 38,000 runners to the Japanese capital -- with Sydney set to join the field in August. Women’s world record holder Ruth Chepngetich is confirmed to compete at the London Marathon in April.

Sydney was promoted in 2025 to become one of the seven World Marathon Majors, joining the lineup of London, Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York.
