UEFA Champions League knock-out phase play-off draw 2024-25

January 31, 2025 - The draw for the knock-out phase play-offs in the UEFA Champions League has taken place in Nyon, Switzerland. The draw features teams ranked 9th-24th in the league phase, competing to join the Top 8 already qualified for the Last 16. Ties of the round include faltering Manchester City against reigning champions Real Madrid, Bayern Munich facing Celtic, and Borussia Dortmund tackling Sporting CP. The first leg matches take place on February 11/12.

The 70th season of Europe's elite club competition, and the 33rd since it was renamed the UEFA Champions League, this is the first under the new format. It kicks off on 9 July 2024 with the qualifiers, and runs until the final on Saturday May 31, 2025 at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.

Real Madrid are defending champions having defeated Borussia Dortmund in the 2024 final.

The UEFA Champions League is contested by the highest ranked teams of the strongest UEFA national associations. It is the top club competition in European football and one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. The Champions League final is the most watched annual sporting event worldwide.
