Six Nations Championship 2025

By Chris Dinsdale

January 31, 2025 - March 15, 2025 - Reigning two-time champions Ireland will begin their campaign with a clash against England at the Aviva Stadium, as the northern hemisphere’s premier rugby union tournament kicks off.

The Six Nations Championship is played each year between England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. Each team plays every other team over five rounds, a total of 15 matches, with home advantage alternating between seasons.

The tournament began in 1883 between the four “home” nations of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, with France joining in 1910 and Italy in 2000 to give the current Six Nations.

In the Six Nations era, England have secured the most championships, winning 7 titles and two Grand Slams -- winning all five matches in one tournament. While Ireland, France and Wales have all claimed six titles. Scotland’s last triumph came in 1999.
