Israeli troop reinforcements are raising questions over the scope of the operation. Although Israel has insisted its operation was to be “limited”, elements of three divisions are now involved in the fighting after the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said in a statement that its 91st Division had joined the ground incursion overnight.
Meanwhile, IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee has issued an urgent warning to residents of more than 20 villages in south Lebanon, including Naqoura and Tayr Harfa.
The IDF has told evacuees to leave their homes and head “north of the Awali River”.
“Anyone who is near Hezbollah members, installations or weapons is putting his life in danger”, the IDF says.
