The humanitarian cost of the Israel-Hamas war

October 3, 2024 - A year on from the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war, the lives of more than 41,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis have been lost, with some 1.9 million Gaza residents displaced.

The Israel-Gaza war, as of October 2, 2024, has claimed the lives of more than 41,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis.

Of the injured, Gaza reports more than 96,000 and Israel over 5,400.

The number of internally displaced people in Gaza stands at 1.9 million (90% of the population), with the number of destroyed homes there now in excess of 70,000.

The conflict marks a sombre first year anniversary on Monday, October 7, 2024.
