Trump lags behind Harris with largest ever war chest
August 9, 2024 - U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris achieves best grassroots fundraising month in presidential history, reaching a record lead of $377 million, $50 million more than Republican opponent Donald Trump.
U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris entered August with $377 million cash in hand, the largest ever war chest at this point in an election campaign.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump had $327 million in the bank at the beginning of August.
According to Harris’ campaign, $200 million was raised in her first week, with 94% coming from grassroots donors giving less that $200 each – 60% of which were women.
Trump and Harris have agreed to a televised debate on ABC on September 10, with Trump seeking two more debates on September 4 (Fox News) and September 25 (NBC).
According to RealClearPolitics August 8 poll average, Harris holds a narrow lead over trump by half a percentage point – 47.6% to 47.1%.
Harris is vying to become the first black woman president in U.S. history.
