UK ELECTION

UK Election centre with live results

By Phil Bainbridge

July 4, 2024 - Britain is preparing for a General Election on July 4 after 14 years of Conservative rule. A total of 4,515 candidates are standing for election in the UK’s 650 parliamentary constituencies.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced a snap general election for July 4th - a huge gamble when polls suggest the Conservatives are likely to be heavily defeated by Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour party.

Labour is on track to smash Tony Blair’s 1997 Labour record of 418 seats at the General Election. Starmer will become the first Labour prime minister since 2010 if Labour wins the election.

First results are normally expected around 11pm BST. NB we do not cover exit polls.
