Nvidia value hits $3tn, overtaking Apple
June 6, 2024 - Nvidia’s market has surged past $3tn to overtake Apple as the world’s second most valuable company, following a year of incredible growth driven by demand for its artificial intelligence chips.
The chipmaker’s stock was up 5.16% at $1,224.40, giving Nvidia a market value of $3.01tn at market close. Apple’s market capitalization was at $3.00tn at market close as its stock climbed 0.78%.
On June 5, the chipmaker’s shares rose 5.2% to close at a record $1,224.40, pushing the market value to more than $3 trillion and overtaking Apple in the process.
Nvidia’s data centre chips power the AI models that chief executive Jensen Huang has claimed will spur a new “industrial revolution”, transforming global business with productivity-enhancing features.
