Indonesia’s presidential election result
February 15, 2024 - The unofficial sample tallies by pollsters suggest that Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto has secured 58% of the votes in Indonesia's presidential election, winning in the first round.
As the counting of votes began, Subianto took an early lead with a 58.2% share among 90% of the ballots in unofficial tallies. His lead could make him the winner in a single round if sustained.
The independent pollsters conducting “quick counts” at the end of voting revealed that Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo had 25.1% and 16.7%, respectively.
To win in a single round, a candidate needs more than 50% of votes cast and 20% of the ballot in half of the country’s provinces. The top two finishers will hold a runoff in June if no candidate wins a majority.
