2023 U.S. military foreign sales up 56%

January 30, 2024 - The U.S. government sold a record $81 billion worth of military equipment and services to foreign powers in 2023 – an increase of 56% on 2022, the U.S. State Department reports.

The U.S. government directly transferred a record $80.9 billion of military equipment and services to other countries in fiscal 2023 – an increase of over 50% on 2022, the U.S. State Department reports.

Poland was the single largest customer, with over $30 billion in transfers agreed, including $12 for Apache attack helicopters and $10 billion for HIMARS rocket systems.

Additionally, U.S. private military contractor sales to overseas nations totalled $157.5 billion in the 2023 financial year – giving an overall total of $238.4 billion in U.S. weapons sales.
