Three U.S. troops killed in drone strike on U.S. base in Jordan
January 29, 2024 - Iran has denied involvement in a drone attack on a U.S. base in northeastern Jordan near the Syrian border that killed three U.S. troops and injured at least 34 others.
The attack marks the first deadly military action against American troops since the war in Gaza triggered a steep rise in violence across the Middle East.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a U.S.-based think tank, has reported that Iranian-backed militias have conducted over 170 attacks targeting U.S. positions since October 2023.
U.S. President Joe Biden has vowed that the U.S. will “respond” in time.
