Timeline of Trump’s attempts to overturn U.S. election

By Ninian Carter

January 12, 2024 - Analysis by The New York Times of indictments related to attempts by Donald Trump to overturn the result of the 2020 U.S. election highlight numerous meetings and phone calls he made in pursuit of that goal.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has expressed skepticism about former President Donald Trump’s claim that he is immune from prosecution for plotting to subvert the 2020 election.

It seems unlikely that it will rule in his favour on a central element of his defence.

When a decision comes on the issue of immunity, it will play a major role in deciding when or if Trump will go to trial in the election interference case, and could affect the timing of the three other criminal trials he’s facing.
