Nepal scrambles to rush aid to quake victims
November 6, 2023 - Thousands of people affected by a deadly earthquake in western Nepal are facing a shortage of food and other supplies as aid efforts struggle to reach remote villages.
At least 157 people were killed in isolated western districts of the Himalayan country when the 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit late on Friday.
Altogether 105 people died in Jajarkot and another 52 in neighbouring Rukum district, officials said, with more than 100 injured, and search and rescue operations had been concluded.
The quake was felt as far away as India's capital New Delhi, nearly 500km from the epicentre, AFP said.
