Israel-Hamas war situation report day 4

By Phil Bainbridge

October 10, 2023 - The Israeli military has threatened a “complete siege” of Gaza and says that the border has now been secured although attempted incursions continue.

Fuel, food, and electricity supplies from Israel to the Gaza Strip will all be stopped. The IDF has activated 300,000 reservists and now has 35 battalions at the Gaza border for what could be a major ground offensive.

Israel carried out 200 air strikes on Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets overnight, with the death toll rising to around 700. Hamas has threatened to start executing Israeli hostages – estimated to number 100-150 – if air strikes continue without warning. Previous IDF practice was to drop a dummy bomb – the so-called “knock on the roof” – to warn residents before a building was to be targeted.

The death toll within Israel from Saturday’s attacks has risen to over 900, with 2,400 injured. The IDF says it has also found the bodies of around 1,500 militants within Israel and around the Gaza border.
