October 1, 2023 - October 30, 2023 - Events in October include Hunter Biden court appearance, the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to China, parliamentary elections in Poland, the Australia Indigenous referendum, and the launching of NASA’s Psyche mission.

Oct, China: Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet Xi Jinping for talks in Beijing as he attends the third Belt and Road Forum. It will be Putin’s first known trip abroad since an arrest warrant was issued against him over the deportation of children from Ukraine.

Oct 3, U.S.: Hunter Biden appears in court on three gun charges in the first-ever prosecution of a sitting U.S. president’s child. It could result
in the unprecedented spectacle of Hunter facing a criminal trial while his father Joe Biden campaigns for re-election.

Oct 5, U.S.: NASA’s Psyche mission blasts off to a unique metal-rich asteroid. Psyche appears to be the exposed nickel-iron core of an early
planet, one of the building blocks of our solar system.

Oct 14, Australia: A referendum will decide whether to amend the constitution to recognise Australia’s Indigenous people by establishing
a representative body to advise parliament.

Oct 15, Poland: A recent ban on Ukrainian grain imports reflected the dilemma faced by the ruling nationalists ahead of a close election – how to counter pressure from the far-right over Warsaw’s approach to helping Ukraine in its war with Russia.
