“A fitting goodbye to cinema’s favourite grave-robber”

By Ninian Carter

June 28, 2023 - Before hanging up his fedora for good, Harrison Ford is back for a final outing as the whip-cracking archaeologist in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”.

At the age of 80, Harrison Ford is returning for a final outing as intrepid archaeologist Indiana Jones (playing a 70-year-old).

His co-stars include Phoebe Waller-Bridge (known for Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story), Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One, Hannibal) and Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Puss in Boots).

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” was one the most highly anticipated world premieres at the Cannes Film Festival this year – with fans especially keen to see the results of a de-aging special effect trick used on Ford in the lengthy opening action sequence.

Dial of Destiny is the first Indiana Jones film not to be directed by Steven Spielberg, so fans will be interested to see how director James Mangold has handled the fifth and final instalment.

The movie premiered in Cannes on May 18, with early reviews appearing mixed. Empire magazine scores it four out of five and sums it up thus: “Indy’s final date with destiny has a barmy finale that might divide audiences – but if you join him for the ride, it feels like a fitting goodbye to cinema’s favourite grave-robber”.
