Russian invasion: Situation report day 397

By Phil Bainbridge

March 27, 2023 - Russian plans to station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, likened by President Putin to U.S. weapons in Europe, have been labelled “dangerous and irresponsible” by NATO.

Russia has also announced plans to complete the infrastructure in the Pacific Ocean to host submarines carrying Poseidon nuclear-capable super-torpedoes. The Pacific Fleet ballistic nuclear missile submarine base is located on the southeast coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula.

International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi, pressing for a security zone around the Zaporizhya nuclear plant, will visit this week to assess the situation, and may travel to Russia in the near future.
